Weekend Projects

Daniel and I spent the majority of the weekend running back and forth between Lowe's/Home Depot and the new house, and I'm loving watching our projects take shape! I spent most of my time with a shovel in hand and Daniel hardly put down his paint brush, but we did manage to take a few photos.

As exciting as all of these renovations are, I'm mostly enjoying working side by side with my husband.  We are tackling something huge together, and I love it!

Jordan's Home Renovations: Kitchen Before Photos

I am super excited about our new kitchen--it has so much potential and I have so many ideas! I'm not sure how much renovating we'll actually get done in this room before we move in--painting is first priority--but looking for inspiration is fun :)

We're planning to paint the kitchen white and most likely do something different with the countertops.  We like white counters as well as butcher block, so at this point we're kind of exploring cost options and going from there!  Under normal circumstances we wouldn't be talking about tackling all of these renovations right off the bat, but with this time gap before we move all of our stuff in, getting as much done as we can kind of just makes sense. :)

Can't wait to cook something yummy in this space!

Jordan's Home Renovations: Living & Dining Room Before Photos

I'm stuck at home sick today--head pounding, nose running and voice gone.  Daniel left early this morning to buy supplies and get the downstairs at the new house taped off so he can start painting tomorrow! I feel like a bum lying here on my deathbed :( So to make myself feel somewhat involved, I'm looking through the before photos I took earlier this week and searching Pinterest for inspiration.  We're going with a warm white for the downstairs walls, and I can't wait to see how it opens up the space.  The walls are currently a greenish/mustard color.

We're swooning over a pretty leather couch for the living room.  I think leather, wood floors, and white walls look so clean and happy together.

And then this photo shows what we plan on doing with the fireplace--subway tile!

I love our little dining room area and am so excited to build a pretty table and keep fresh flowers on it :)

We've looked through several DIY tutorials on building farmhouse/pallet tables.  I think natural wood textures look really pretty against the simple white walls.

I wish I could be at the house helping Daniel today, but looking through these ideas for inspiration makes me so excited to start prettying up these freshly painted rooms!

New House Preview

Daniel and I are caught up in a crazy back-and-forth of emotions the past few days.  We are SO excited to be homeowners.  We are SO terrified to be homeowners.

Overall, we are so thankful. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but this house is such a blessing on our marriage.  We can't wait for the intentional together time buying this house promises us--we have so many projects dreamed up! Last night we purchased a few little paint samples--we plan to try them out on the living room wall tonight so we can start painting this weekend. You're going to get tired of home project posts soon! :)

For now, here are a few outdoor photos:

I'm in love!

We're Homeowners!

Just got back from closing on our house! Eeeek. Excuse me while I go celebrate with my hubs over steak and potatoes :) (This weather is perfect for grilling!)

Happiest of weekends!

Dreaming of Home Projects

We close on our house in ten days. TEN DAYS! Time is flying, and we are so excited and so nervous.

However, our lease isn't up until May, so we won't be moving in right away.  Instead, we're thinking about taking advantage of the little gap by using our new space for projects.  Painting is first on our minds, but we're also dreaming of a few other things we could get done in the empty house and garage before we fill them with furniture and such.

I can't wait for this adventure with my hubs!

We're Buying a House!

Now that we've been through the inspection process, I can finally announce that we are buying a house! :)

We close in mid March, and Daniel and I are so excited to make this space our own.  We're also constantly asking one another when we became old enough for this, and how did we get so blessed?

I never updated you all on how the first evening of looking at houses went because we found the one that night!  It was our second stop.  I walked in, started crying a little, Daniel looked at me and said, "Okay." We knew it was it.  We made an offer that night after seeing three more houses and finding out there was already an offer on our house.  We found out the next afternoon our offer was accepted!  From there, we set up an inspection that was postponed several days due to last week's blizzard.  Thankfully the inspection went well, and we're happily moving forward.

We've had projects on our minds for the past couple of weeks, and much of our intentional time together has been spent clicking through Pinterest and walking around Home Depot. :) Fine by me!

This house will be the first place Daniel and I move into at the same time.  It'll be OUR space from the beginning.  It'll also be the house our future babies make messes in.  I am over the moon!

And I owe it to my sweet husband, who is a master at crunching numbers and calling realtors and lenders.  WHAT A MAN. Thanks, boo!

House Hunting: Daniel and Jordan

Since it consumed most of our weekend, I think it's an appropriate time to announce that Daniel and I looking to buy a house! :)

We were pre-approved for a home loan on Friday.  I don't know many details on that whole process because Daniel kind of took care of it.  But I do know he found our realtor on Dave Ramsey's website and she referred him to a couple of banks.  We met with the realtor Saturday afternoon, discussed what we're looking for, and clicked through a BUNCH of listings online, which we've been doing for a couple of hours every evening the past few weeks. We narrowed it down to a few houses and made plans to go see them this week!

So I've obviously been dreaming about decor and pinning away between house searching sessions. I'm so excited to create a cozy space for Daniel and me, and our future little ones!

We're both a little nervous--this is a huge investment! But we're feeling mostly excited and relaxed.  We have until May to be moved out of our rent house, so we're not in a major rush.

I do keep wondering when I became old enough for something like this, though! :)
